Independent guide based on upstream documentation reviewed October 10, 2026. Installation routes and tool capabilities below are documented by their authors; this site has not tested every agent or asset workflow.
Find the files that answer your question
- README.md describes installation routes, prerequisites, the workflow and worked examples. Read it before selecting an agent or copying a command.
- AGENTS.md explains the repository’s working rules. The skills directory contains task instructions and engine references for agents.
- knowledge/INDEX.md leads to field notes with game versions, chosen routes, verification details and known problems.
- examples/ contains source for specific projects. um/ contains the Python CLI implementation, and pyproject.toml declares its Python package requirements.
Choose an installation route deliberately
The upstream README lists plugin or extension installs for several agents, as well as a clone-and-open route. Pick the instructions matching the agent you actually have. A skill-only install and a full plugin are different choices: confirm which instructions, command-line tools and MCP configuration your selected route provides.
For a clone, use the original GitHub URL and a new working directory. Inspect the README, agent instructions and configuration before starting an agent there. Record the commit you checked. A mutable main branch may change after a tutorial is written, so keep the version with your project notes.
Keep game data separate from toolkit code
The repository is a modding workspace, not a copy of your game. Establish the game’s install location and a separate test-save or launcher profile. Ask the agent to identify the supported loader route and explain the files it intends to change before installing anything into a game directory.
The upstream rules call for backups before save changes and a human decision before loader installation, mouse or keyboard control, and publishing. Keep credentials outside mod source. Do not add game files or decompiled dumps to a public repository when saving your progress.
Use evidence to review the first result
Start by searching for your exact game and version in the knowledge base. A note marked working still needs its verification scope read: compilation, a scripted scene and a human gameplay check answer different questions. An unmentioned version should remain pending verification.
Choose one feature that can be built and inspected, such as a harmless item with a placeholder texture. Save the build output, exact dependencies, observed behavior and rollback steps. If it fails, an accurate log excerpt is more useful than another broad request to make the whole mod work. Use this site’s planner to prepare that first handoff.
A starter prompt for your agent
Inspect the original rehan-remade/universal-modder repository and record its commit. Read README.md, AGENTS.md and the relevant game field note. Explain which installation route matches my agent and what it installs. Prepare one small test milestone with isolated saves, file-change scope and rollback steps. Ask before installing a loader into my game directory, controlling input or publishing.
